First impressions of Mac OS X Leopard
I thought everyone might like to know that I’ve bought and installed OS X Leopard on my beloved MacBook. Although there were a couple speed-bumps along the way, all in all I am very pleased with the user experience and plethora of new features that Leopard brings to the table. Here’s a short summary of my first impressions:
Finder
The new finder is beautiful, as is to be expected from Apple, and its usability is unmatched in any file management method I’ve ever encountered. The second I turned on my MacBook for the first time with Leopard, both my mom’s notebook and our home PC popped up as being able to connect to. I could even share the screen with my mom’s iBook, which would be awesome.
Photo Booth
One of the more fun new features are those included in Photo Booth. The backdrops and video shooting provide for a lot of fun, and I admit I found myself playing with these new toys for most of this morning. There’s a lot more to Photo Booth than there used to be, and all in all I feel it has been greatly improved upon.
I am a religious user of Apple’s Mail application, and the boost this app has received in Leopard is phenomenal. The notes and to-do features are awesome and particularly useful, while the stationaries and RSS feeds make it even more essential to my daily routine on my Mac.
Install Issues
When I installed Leopard last night, it restarted after the install was finished into an endless blue screen where I feared I was trapped for all eternity. I called Apple technical support and used this site to help solve my problem.
I’ll post new reviews and such as they come to me, but for right now I think this is alright. Sorry for the lack of posts lately, once again I’ve been busy.
