Favorite music
Hey everyone. With all this talk of iPods, I figured I’d post my favorite bands and artists on here so people can get an idea of what I’m into. Away we go…
Bloc Party
They’re an indie rock band from the UK with a unique sound that has since been imitated by other bands. Their best album, in my opinion, is their first, Silent Alarm. These guys are some you should definitely look up on iTunes.
Arctic Monkeys
Probably one of my favorite bands, the Monkeys have been met with astounding success in the UK and in the music-conscious across the pond. Their best album is also their first, entitled Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not; and essential tracks are “I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor” and “From the Ritz to the Rubble.” Off their new CD, Favourite Worst Nightmare (which is also amazing), “D is for Dangerous,” “Brianstorm” and “Florescent Adolescent” are the standout best.
Kaiser Chiefs
Another indie rock band whose best album is probably their first, Employment. While their second, Yours Truly, Angry Mob; features some jems like “Ruby” and “Boxing Champ,” Employment on the whole takes the cake.
Tokyo Police Club
Everything this indie rock group from Canada has produced is extraordinary. Their full-length album, entitled A Lesson in Crime, is without question one of the greatest purchases I’ve made on iTunes—and, if I remember correctly, it’s only $5.99. So buy it.
The White Stripes
I’ve loved this duo since the sixth grade and even today I can’t get enough of their music. Although I was disappointed with their latest album, Icky Thump, I still love their bluesy feel and superb lyrics. Jack White is undoubtedly a great songwriter.
The Strokes
Hailed when they first debuted as “the saviors of rock,” the Strokes have produced some of the catchiest and best songs I’ve heard in ages. Their best album is, as before, the first, called Is This It. Take it from me, it is it and more.
The Fratellis
This UK rock band first caught my attention when their song “Flathead” was featured on an iPod silhouette commercial earlier this year. Their peppy, carefree sound always manages to put me in a good mood, and their best songs are “Henrietta,” “Flathead,” and “Stacie Anne.”
So that’s a little sampling of what’s on my “Top Rated” playlist. If there’s anyone I forgot to mention, I’ll add them on later. Have a good one, thanks, Masoni
